"Subscription Service" Contract Agreement



Service Overview

As from April 1, 2016, once the maintenance period of your existing license(s) expires we will no longer be providing renewals and version upgrades for them.
They will automatically be updated to subscription licenses via Internet. Once updated, you no longer need to do any paper work for subscription renewal or remember your passwords. The duration of your current contract for the product(s) you own will of course remain the same.
Rental Access License is a new option available under the new subscription model.

  The best solution for software bugs and issues is to always use the latest versions of the software.
  With a subscription license you always have immediate access to the latest versions.
  Old versions are not covered by the technical support service.

　★Benefits of Automatic License Renewal, Rental Access Licenses
  As the subscription licenses are subject to automatic renewal you no longer need to worry about expiry date of
  your licenses.
  Rental Access License (registration free of charge) gives you an effective and efficient license management.

　★License management has become safer and easier than ever
  USB hardware protection keys are no longer required. All your licenses are managed 'on cloud',
  eliminating the 'worry' about losing keys.
  Basically, there is no need of changing the protection method due to OS or hardware migration.

　★Guarantees the correct use of the software license and prevents copyright violations
  Subscription licensing policy helps prevent the unwanted breach of the license agreement and the violation
  of license copyright.

You can choose the licensing options that best fits your style of software use from the following.


■ Subscription Service Licensing Options
FORUM8 Subscription
License		 You will always have access to the latest versions of FORUM8 products and all the technical support you need. Subscription comes with free first year maintenance and technical support. After 1 year, license is renewed automatically. A multi-year contract (2-year or 3-year subscription contract) as well as rental access application and additional license purchase are available.
Floating license available at an additional cost allows access to the FORUM8 product(s) for which you are subscribed from any PC in the world.
FORUM8 Rental License
／Rental Access License		 If you wish to cut down on initial cost, you may opt for rental licenses that have duration of 1 month, 3 month, and a half year. Floating license gives you even greater flexibility over software accessibility, allowing you access from any PC in the world.
If you opt for Rental Access License, you can increase the number of licenses you own and use these additional licenses for a specific period of time (1 month or 3 month) at your discretion. Once you sign up for this option, you can use the additional license for that period. We will later send you an invoice based on your usage log.
FORUM8 Engineer Suite A subscription-based license including a wide range of products such as UC-1, VR, and FEM software is used by executive engineers. This annual license also includes the Engineer Suite Addition program. The optional floating license gives you even greater flexibility over software accessibility, allowing you access from any PC in the world.
FORUM8 Cloud Service This subscription license renewable on monthly-basis allows you to take advantage of FORUM8 Cloud Service and share and save your files on cloud to instigate a collaborative project with your peers.
It includes groupware services such as office processing systems, scheduling, and file transfer. Products using cloud-based applications are being expanded.

Transition from maintenance contract / Newly subscribe / Contract renewal
  1. As from April 1, 2016, once the maintenance period of your existing license(s) expires, they will automatically be transferred to subscription licenses.
  2. Valid term of subscription licenses will always end after 1 full year on the last day of the month on which they are purchased or renewed.
      For example, whether subscription license is purchased on July 1st or on July 31st, the subscription is valid until July 31st the following year.

Transition step:
    　
  1. License transition from current NetPRO or USB can be done with RUS (Remote Update System) tool Ver.5.
       The update is only once by connecting the current USB on the Internet.

  2. As to the users who are using Web authentication, it will be updated to the subscription automatically.



Launcher
　
  1. A Startup Launcher for managing your licenses will be provided free of charge.
  2. Startup Launcher is an integrated license management tool with a menu driven
    interface that intuitively displays detail of owned licenses and other
    products you may wish to refer to.
    3. 　
  3. The menu also includes a flow chart illustrating our software's
    seamless linkage with other 3rd party applications to help you get
    the most out of our software experience.

Unsubscribe
　
  1. If you wish to unsubscribe, please email us at least 1 month prior to the renewal month and we will guide you through the unsubscribe procedure.
      If there is no application to unsubscribe, the invoice will be issued automatically.

Rental Access License
    　
  1. License(s) may be added to the licenses of a particular product you already own to be used temporarily as Rental Access License(s).
    2. 　
  2. Rental Access License registration form need to be filled out prior to usage. Please contact us.

  3. All users with Subscription License(s) may opt for "Rental Access License".
    4. 　
  4. All users with Subscription Floating License(s) may opt for "Rental Floating Access License".

  5. When all of your product licenses are in usage, you have to choose whether you apply for Rental Access License or not. If you choose not to apply, you cannot get activation.
    6. 　
  6. An invoice with an amount based on your usage will be sent to you at 3 month intervals from the month you registered for your Rental Access License(s).
    7. 　
  7. Once you use Rental Access License in a month, then it will be counted as usage for one month regardless of the number of times or dates of utilization. The month that you don't use the Rental Access License is not counted.

Rental access pre-application price: 15% discount on the rental license price (From March 1st, 2019)

In the event that upgrading fee is unveiled, then it will be added to the cost below.

■ Point to note for Short-term Subscription
 -It is a contract for less than one year, and the earlier termination is not admitted.
-It can be applied to your other license/s when you renew your contract or purchase an additional license.
  • The short-term license cannot be applied to a new additional purchased license.
  • Even the license for the longest term of 11 months will cost less than the subscription license for one year.
  • You cannot use the normal subscription license and the short-term subscription license for
    the same product at the same time.
  • Use this license to adjust the license period of your product to your other subscription licenses
    at the time of the contract renewal or new purchase.
