Following last year, The 15th Design Festival
was held as a "Live" x "Online" hybrid event,
allowing a great number of guests from around the world to participate.
Under the theme "We propose software leading to
productivity improvement and management innovation for the DX era",
experts gave excellent lectures for 3 days, following the EVE event.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone
who attended the Design Festival and to all the judges and lecturers.

FORUM8 held FORUM8 design festival 2021-3Days+EVE from November 17 to 19, 2021 (with 16th as the EVE of the Festival) at Shinagawa Intercity Hall and the foyer.
In 2009, several events that were originally held separately were reorganized. Since then, the Design Festival has shifted to the current three-day period every fall. Since 2015, the eve of the festival has been added, and our attempts to have the participants experience the chemistry brought about by our latest technology and various art have been elaborately developed. In addition, in the global coronavirus crisis, which is difficult to predict convergence, we adopted a hybrid method that enables online participation as well as thorough measures to prevent infectious diseases at the venue.
Following the Design Festival EVE held online, the Design Festival was held consisting of lectures and presentations for the 6th Autonomous Driving Conference, the 22nd UC-win/Road Conference (VR Conference), the 7th State of the Art Technologies in Expression Association & Latest Technology Art Session, the 14th International VR Symposium, and the 15th Design Conference IM&VR / i-Construction Session, as well as the public judgement and award ceremonies of the 20th 3D-VR Simulation Contest on Cloud, the 9th Cloud Programming World Cup (CPWC), the 11th Student BIM & VR Design Contest on Cloud (VDWC), the 7th Junior Software Seminar, the 5th Hagura Award, and the 8th National Resilience Design Award (NaRDA). Published Literature Presentation was also made.

The Festival EVE was held completely online as last year under the theme of "A New Road". It consists of live performances by a wide range of artists centered on Noh, Pelvis work, and sound art directed by Mr. ONI. They colored the opening gorgeously.
Design Festival Day 1 opened with the 6th Autonomous Driving Conference from morning to the first half of afternoon. Five representatives from the four relevant ministries and agencies gave lectures on the latest measures related to autonomous driving, trends in technology and standardization, demonstration tests and projects with the address of the guest in between. At the same time, the latest information on the digital twin environment provided by FORUM8 for research and development in this field was introduced.
In the second half of the afternoon, the award announcement and award ceremony of the 20th 3D-VR Simulation Contest on Cloud were held. Prior to this, 13 of the entries had been nominated. Each award has been decided through a public vote using VR-Cloud® (November 5-14) and the final judging panel (November 16).
Finally, the authors and supervisors of FORUM8 Publishing's two new books, "BIM/CIM World Expanded by FORUM8 Revised Edition" and “Shade3D Official Guidebook 2022 (for Beginners)”, gave lectures to introduce the contents.
The first half of the morning of Day 2 started with a presentation for the 22nd UC-win/Road Conference. In the second half, the public final screening of the 9th CPWC (8 works nominated in advance from the entries) and the 11th VDWC (also 7 works) were performed.
The first half of the afternoon started with a special lecture of the "Special Session", followed by the 7th State of the Art Technologies in Expression Association & Latest Technology Art Session. After the speech of Chairman for the State of the Art Technologies in Expression Association, the Association presented the 5th Hagura Award (also 8 works) and held an awards ceremony. Moreover, in the 14th International VR Symposium, firstly, the missions and initiatives of World16 were introduced. Next, 10 members from all over the world (excluding facilitators) who participated on the spot or online presented their respective projects. Then they developed these results into the concept of connecting to our product development.
In the second half of the afternoon, Patrick Harlan joined as a presenter to present the awards and awards ceremony for the 9th CPWC, the 11th VDWC, and the 7th Junior Software Seminar.
On the last day of the Design Festival (Day 3), from the morning part to the first half of the afternoon, the 15th Design Conference IM&VR / i-Construction Session was held consisting of a special lecture in the form of a panel discussion with Audrey Tang, Digital Minister of Taiwan, who was connected online, and presentations.
In the second half of the afternoon, the prize announcement and awards ceremony were held for the 8th NaRDA (for which final judging was made by the judges on November 16 for the 8 works nominated in advance from the submitted works).
The total number of visitors to the Design Festival 2021 at the venue or online (including Design Festival EVE held in the previous night) has reached about 2,000.

At FORUM8 Design Festival 3Days+Eve, new software, systems, and researches are presented every year. This year, in particular, the Digital Agency has been established and the DX has been promoted rapidly at the ministries and agencies, bringing about major changes in new ways of working and corporate activities.
As for autonomous driving, the trend of its development and revolution is expected to continue permanently, and as we can see in the development of MaaS, it is also leading to the revolution of city and urban planning. We will invite experts from 4 ministries as lecturer and hold the 6th Autonomous Driving Conference, where many questions from audience are solved every year. In addition, at the 20th 3D VR Simulation Contest, applicants do presentations on their VR usages in various fields such as research on automobile, driving traffic simulation, city planning, etc. FORUM8 is promoting the cooperation of UC-win/Road and the virtual platform F8VPS and planning to announce new technologies and features related to it.
On Day2 we will have the final screening and Awards Ceremony for the 9th Cloud Programming World Cup "CPWC" and the 11th Student BIM&VR Design Contest on cloud "VDWC". Teams from around the world who won the nomination screening will compete for a victory. Visitors can also see the newest technologies at the 5th Hagura Award by the State of the Art Technologies in Expression Association and the 14th International Symposium. On DAY3, we are pleased to invite Audrey Tang, Digital Minister of Taiwan, to an online discussion under the theme "Promotion of infrastructure resilience and disaster mitigation IT for the DX era" with Prof. Fumihiko Imamura from Tohoku University and Prof. Edwin R Galea from University of Greenwich. After that, a variety of works which contribute to the national resilience and disaster mitigation will be presented at the 8th National Resilience Design Award.
As in previous years, we will also hold the Eve event, reveal new publishing, and display real and virtual exhibits. It is my pleasure to host the Design Festival as an opportunity for showing FORUM8's software and services.
