FORUM8 Co., Ltd. (2-15-1 Konan, Minato-ku, Tokyo. President Yuji Ito. URL: http://www.forum8.co.jp/english/) has taken over the copyright of Japan-made cross-platform game engine "Chidori" from Premium ARTS Inc. (5-11-1 Toranomon, Minato-ku, Tokyo. President Katsunori Yamaji). Chidori engine can correspond to titles provided for multi-devices immediately. Users can flexibly adopt it to the game development for single platform at first and then to additional development for multi-deployment. Since there is no need to do system development, users can concentrate on the development of game contents itself, which helps improve both development speed and quality FORUM8 is renewing Chidori engine with the cooperation of Premium ARTS to release it as a new product with enhanced functions in spring 2020. FORUM8 plans to encourage students to use the game engine, for example as a tool for programming education, and thus considering not to charge fee if the game engine is to be used for non-commerical purposes; the use of the engine for commercial purposes will incur a fee. FORUM8 encourages all students competing or looking to compete in FORUM8 hosted competitions such as the Cloud Programming World Cup (CPWC) or U-22 Programming Contest hosted by CSAJ to take advantage of this great opportunity and use Chidori in creating their submission.
