CES, the world biggest consumer technology and electronics tradeshow, was
held at Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center in the US from January
8 to 11, 2019.
This tradeshow is organized by Consumer Technology Association (CTA) and
has been held since 1967 for over 50 years. The state-of-the-art electronics
products in each era such as video caset recorder, DVD, Blue-Ray, 3D printer,
etc. have been exhibited. Last year more than 4400 companies and over 182,000
people from all over the world attended the CES 2018. Also this year, many
exhibitors, visitors, and the newest technologies centered on the fields
of AI (Artificial Intelligence), IoT, 5G, 8K, and smart city gathered at
the venue.
Not only home electronics such as 8K display, bendable display, and voice
assisstant but also vehicles including autonomous driving and connected
vehicle have increased the exhibit area. In 2019 FORUM8 ran a booth for
the first time at this event that is gaining more and more attention in
Japan. At FORUM8 booth, we exhibited a variety of products including the
3D realtime virtual reality software UC-win/Road Ver.13 with the theme
of "VR/AR/MR, IoT and Gaming Solutions by FORUM8".
VR-NEXT rendering engine is a cross platform application corresponding
to the physical base rendering (PBR) that is a new rendering method for
3D models with realistic physical characteristics such as material and
light.
Shade3D that was added to FORUM8 products lineup in 2018 is a Japanese-born
comprehensive 3D CG software released in 1986 and sells over 500,000 copies.
It corresponds to modeling as well as CAD, and in the future we plan to
add usages including 3D bar arrangement and cloud support in a cooperation
with FORUM8's development technology.
We also displayed Air Driving, UAV autonomous flight control by embedded
system using UC-win/Road, VR Motion Seat linked with HMD (Head Mounted
Display), etc. and a lot of people visited the FORUM8 booth and experienced
our newest technologies. In particular, throughout the duration of the
exhibition there was a big lineup of visitors that waited for their turn
to experience the VR Motion Seat that reproduces a roller coaster running
through buildings in Shinagawa. We received high evaluation on our VR technology
from a lot of companies. We also received various inquiries such as the
fluid simulation reproducing the discharged shower water and the care simulation
for nurse as well as the driving simulation, motorcycle simulation, and
flight simulation.
FORUM8 is planning to run a bigger booth at CES2020 being held in January
2020. We are also going to exhibit at CES ASIA in June 2019 that has been
held every year since 2015 in Shanghai. We continue to suggest advanced
simulations using VR.
