NAB SHOW 2018 is the world-biggest exhibition of commercial instruments.
It is held in every April from 1991 by National Association of Broadcasters
that is organizing about 8700 American local radio and TV broadcasts. At
this interaction platform, specialists engaged in media and entertainment
related technology communicate each other to seek innovative methods of
contents creation, management, provision, and sales.
Smart software, cloud solution, and other ideas that will lead future contents
are showcased this year, and over 100 thousand visitors around the world
experienced state-of-the-art technologies.
At the Forum8 booth, 3D VR software UC-win/Road, steering torque controlled
autonomous drive simulator whose steering controller with force feedback
used for autonomous driving and ADAS R&D is cooperated with UC-win/Road
were showcased. We also exhibited VR-Cloud® that can remote control
3D VR contents via network. And the latest technology in Forum8 booth for
this exhibition was a UWB real-time location information system taking
an advantage of Ultra Wide Band communication to track man and object precisely.
About 100 people visited our booth and experienced the software.
Since this location information tracking system uses a wide band frequency,
it can cover a multiple-floor building, huge storage, park, and event venue
as well as small room. It has a higher precision and the lower initial
cost than that of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID. Those from a broadcast industry
that is having issues about camera tracking and management at shooting
sites had a great interest in it.
A Norwegian TV channel who once tried an RFID camera tracking and gave
it up because of the expensive cost of receiver is positively considering
RTLS customization, understanding the significance of this exhibit system
including its cost.
Some other companies requested a concurrent use of RTLS indoor tracking
and GPS outdoor tracking. We also received requests about UC-win/Road training
simulator and UC-win/Road usage for traffic simulation.
A lot of video and camera equipment was showcased at the event, and we
could collect the newest image related information. We are thinking of
proposing an entire perimeter 8K camera that can take photos without controlling
its posture and can be equipped to a drone for UC-win/Road linked system.
FORUM8 will continue to expand new UC-win/Road functions, UWB real-time
location information system, and the possibilities of its development.
