[Theme: The Forefront of Autonomous Driving, AI, and Cloud Research]
Special Lecture
Lecturer
Prof. Olivier L. de Weck
(MIT Apollo Program Professor, Professor and Associate Department Head of Aero Astro, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, Faculty Co-Director of MIT Gordon Engineering Leadership Program, Faculty Director of MIT-Switzerland Program)

Profile
Prof. de Weck is a leader in systems engineering research. He focuses on how complex man-made systems such as aircraft, spacecraft, automobiles, printers, and critical infrastructures are designed and how they evolve over time.
He specializes in Systems Engineering, Technology Management, Technology Roadmapping, Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO), Astronautics and Space Logistics, Earth Observation, and the entire lifecycle of complex, long-lived technological systems.
He was born in Switzerland and holds degrees in industrial engineering from ETH Zurich and aerospace systems engineering from MIT. Before joining MIT he was a liaison engineer and later engineering program manager on the F/A-18 aircraft program at McDonnell Douglas. He also worked as Visiting Scientist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and Senior Vice President for Technology Planning and Roadmapping, Airbus. His research is in Systems Engineering with a focus on how complex technological systems are designed and how they evolve over time.
