Towards the realization of the smart society called Society5.0, companies
and the society is drastically changing by digital transformation - DX.
DX makes organizations and companies into IT itself, and software technology
and data to become the core of each entity. A strategy called the connected
industry will progress the utilization and linkage between a variety of
technologies and industries. FORUM8 has extended our 2D and CAD software
development to 3D and VR while providing products and services. We enhanced
linkages among each and every software programs such as those for technical
calculations, CAD, and analysis. In addition, we are working on various
software and technology developments including games and embedded systems.
This year, FORUM8 has grouped Shade 3D Co., Ltd. to accelerate the important
software development focusing on 3D CG and VR.
Now we announce that we will be hosting the Design Festival 2018. The event
starts with the 3rd Autonomous Driving Conference as part of the UC-win/Road
Conference in which we will present the newest VR software and its case
examples as we introduce the nominated works from the 3D VR Contest. Then
we will explain developments and utilizations of 3D CAD and FEM analysis
software contributing to the realization of CIM, i-Construction, and national
resilience. In addition, we will host NaRDA, student competitions such
as CPWC and VDWC, and other competitions and lectures to further spread
the technologies we have to offer.
We at Forum8 will continue to help our licensed users improve their productivity
and business efficiency through the use of IT that revolve around our VR,
3D CAD, and FEM solutions. It is my pleasure to host the Design Festival
as an opportunity to learn about and envision the Society5.0 and DX. We
are really looking forward to seeing you.

The 8th Virtual Design World Cup
-Cloud-based design competition for civil engineering and construction works with BIM/CIM and VR! -
Theme2018
"Sharable urban system of future Shanghai"
This is an international design competition for students to compete amongst each other in designing an innovative architecture, bridge and city design using BIM/CIM &VR technologies.
Every year students compete for the top prize which is given to an outstanding work outlining a predefined theme in the aspect of design, innovative idea, and creativity. They plan and design their work based on the theme and then run a simulation. Their final model will be presented to the judges in a form of a script for evaluation.
To assist students with the production of their work, we plan to carry out workshops and seminars. We will also support the students who will make use of software from now on. Also you can communicate and collect a lot of information without having to visit the local area by participating various workshop reviews through the Web and VR forum ( 3D cloud BBS ). The script of VR data created by FORUM8's software and a "Concept poster" (A1 size (lateral) in PDF format) are required for the final submission and the judgment is performed on the basis of "VR Cloud judgment". We would like you to use FORUM8's BIM software and VR technologies by all means and consider this competition as an opportunity to create your masterpiece. We encourage students from different departments majoring in different field of studies to make a team to work on their model together to demonstrate that BIM/CIM can be used in various discipline.
